Liang Ding is a programmer and a blogger from China. He has worked for Alibaba doing online payments related development and now works at EPICPaaS on architecting and implementing a PaaS software platform.
In his spare time, he contributes to open source projects and is a NetBeans Dream Team member who has been organizing the translation team for the Chinese NetBeans Weekly Newsletter for several years.
Below follows a short interview with Liang, who you can see here greeting NetBeans users all around the world, from Kunming, in Yunnan Province, China:
Hi Liang! You've been translating the NetBeans Weekly Newsletter into Chinese -- when did you start doing that, how, and who else works with you on this?
Since then new members joined in and some left. At present, there are five members in our team, I think this shows not only our interest, but also the responsibility that we have taken on together.
Here is a recent example of our work and note that anyone can subscribe to receive the newsletter for free:
Do you use NetBeans in your daily work, since when, and what are your favorite features?
I have been using NetBeans IDE almost every day since 2006 and I have used every release since NetBeans IDE 6.0. NetBeans is a modern, simple, and smart IDE. I like its near-perfect support for Maven and for HTML5.
To a Maven project, NetBeans IDE has "Maven-native" support. That means there are no IDE-related configuration files generated in the project directory. This is very important for team development and also makes it easier to setup open source projects.
At the same time, NetBeans IDE has been providing more and more features, while its performance has become increasingly better. That's very good for its users and I think the NetBeans team must have paid a lot of attention to this aspect of the IDE.
Thanks for the interview Liang, great to meet you, and thanks for all the work you and your team are putting into the Chinese translation of the NetBeans Weekly Newsletter!
